Everyone at the table.

Ostería Marquez is committed to making the room, the menu, and this website usable by every guest. We target compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III.

In the room

  • Step-free entrance from Chicago Ave with automatic door on request.
  • Accessible restroom on the main floor — no stairs, grab bars, lever hardware.
  • Aisles maintained at 36 inches minimum — wheelchair turning radius at every table.
  • Two tables reserved daily for guests requiring transfer space; please request when booking.
  • Service-animal-welcome restaurant under federal ADA rules — no questions asked beyond the two permitted.
  • Lower-volume seating area on the south wall for guests with sensory sensitivity.

At the menu

  • Large-print menus (18pt) on request, no notice needed.
  • Braille menus available with 24-hour notice — please call or email.
  • Servers trained to read the full menu aloud, including allergen and ingredient detail.
  • Allergen sheet (top-9 plus sesame, mustard, sulfites) printed and updated weekly.
  • Gluten-free pasta and bread program with 24-hour notice.

On this site

  • Semantic HTML throughout — every page uses landmark roles, headings in order, alt text on every meaningful image.
  • Keyboard navigable end-to-end. Visible focus rings on every interactive element.
  • Colour contrast tested to AA: cream on charcoal exceeds 7:1, gold accents meet 4.5:1.
  • No animation triggers on the reservation, menu or accessibility flows. Prefers-reduced-motion respected on the home page hero.
  • Forms labelled, errors announced, no time-outs.
  • Tested with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking on the most recent two major versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

Known limitations

We are honest about the gaps we are still closing:

  • Embedded reservation widgets (Resy, OpenTable) are governed by their providers' accessibility — we offer phone booking as a 1:1 substitute.
  • The map iframe on /contact is informational only; full address, transit and parking detail are written above and below it.
  • Press images and gallery photos are progressively decorative — none are required to understand the page.

Accommodations & feedback

If you need an accommodation, encounter a barrier on this site, in the room or with our menu, please contact us. We respond within two business days and treat every report as a priority. We are happy to take the booking by phone, build the menu around your needs, or make any change required.

Standards & enforcement

This statement was last reviewed . We re-audit the site twice a year using a combination of axe DevTools, Lighthouse, manual screen reader testing, and the WCAG 2.1 AA checklist. The room is audited annually by an independent ADA consultant.
